<reviewbody>Hey, I was 8 in 1958 and I couldn't wait when we went to the store and bought a can of V-8 juice and with my box of Cheerio's to get this Rocket game. I drank up the V-8 and had mother cut off the label from the can and snip off the boxtop to send the both in to that address on the screen. Three wks later, the prize arrived and what fun playing with that game. In those days, prizes, or toys that were either in the cereal box, or have to order with a boxtop included with the coinage (shucks, things were pennies in those days), to receive your order. Yep, the good ol' days-now look at them (BUMMER!!) World's gone to pot!! -op712.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Somehow, the combination of Cheerios and V8, the two sponsors of this ad, sounds totally unappealing together.
In this ad, two kids wander in with space helmets (apparently they just flew in for breakfast from the rocket that is shown at the beginning of the ad) and dive right in to their bowls of Cheerios and glasses of V8 (please, don't upchuck it on the table boys). There;s a prize too, a Space rocket thing, that looks to be two pieces, when the two separate, two spacemen fall out on a game pad. The 2 boys sprint down to see this on the floor, then stay there, apparently transfixed at what the rocket has done. Classic. Reccomended!</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Interesting however it is rather clear that most peoples ideals within this time as to what a good breakfast ideal is douse not include v8 and Cheerios as a main meal. And having never liked v8 my self i can see the logic in this.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Watching this ad and learning about the “out of this world breakfast” combination of Cheerios and V-8 juice solved one of the nagging riddles of my childhood. As children in the 50’s, our mother would give us Cheerios with V-8 juice poured ON the cereal, not in a separate glass. Unlike the ad’s announcer, we didn’t say “What a treat!” when faced with this bizarre combination. Now that I’ve learned that Cheerios and V-8 advertised themselves jointly, I can see how my mother could associate the two products together. How come we didn’t put milk on the cereal like normal people? The milkman’s bill hadn’t been paid and V-8 was all there was left in the refrigerator. Facing a bowl of Cheerios with V-8 juice poured on it in the morning definitely gave us “go power”—right out the front door.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Remember the days when sugar was an essential dietary element? Remember when adding vegetables to seemingly any meal seamed a good thing to do? Remember when toys were not tested for safety? If you remember all these things you will understand the reasoning behind this commercial.

Fun viewing. From a 21century perspective however one has to ask: what were we thinking?</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Nice old style commercial, but disgusting at the same time.
It is interesting how V-8 is similar to the Nazi name of their Vengeance Weapon rockets, and here they sell a rocket that explodes above the moon... what a great, morale boosting toy.

"Landing the corpses of astronauts on a moon map!"</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>There are things in this commercial that just aren't very realistic. For one, the bowls the boys use to put their cereal in looks like a deep dish dinner plate. And the boys are enjoying V-8 juice. Now I like V-8 juice myself. But I haven't known too many other people who do. And I didn't start drinking it until I was out of high school. As for the commercial, one thing that does look realistic is how excited the boys are to eat the Cheerios so they can send away for the offer mentioned in this commercial. Maybe that's why they are eating from plates.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>It looks as though there were a lot of kid's commercials promising that if you eat your cereal you can get to the moon, Mars, or school on time! Eat right and grow up to be an astronaut. When I was a young boy I dreamed of growing up to be a hedge-fund tycoon. Just give me a tall cold glass of dark winter ale for breakfast. That's the way to start your day.</reviewbody>
